All In
I think there is always a part of us that wants to hold back just a little bit. We don’t want to be completely vulnerable and open just in case we get hurt. That's often why faith is so challenging! It's one thing to know that we can give all our worries and concerns over to God…
'Don’t worry about anything, instead pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank him for what he has done.' Philippians 4:6
But…I think it's in our nature to want to have control, to not go into the deep end -because we won't have the security of the sea floor under our feet. The thing is that God has a way better plan -a plan that is going to require our complete faith in him. If I look back on the most powerful moments in my life -they only happened because I had no option but to trust God. I had run out of excuses or '10 step plans' -kind of like Moses who came to the red sea and had no option but to cross it.
The amazing thing about God is that he has already cleared the way. It may look like nothing has changed in the natural but he is always setting us up and positioning us for a breakthrough. All he asks of us is to tune in and to trust in his perfect plan.
….'Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. (Verse 7).
I know that I have gotten into the habit sometimes of just going ankle deep or waist deep -especially when it's a cloudy or rainy day. But what God has been showing me is that you get so much more resistance from the water when you try and walk when you are waist deep. Whilst we think it will be easier and safer -it is actually so much harder to stay firm and strong. Yet, when we go all in we can swim so much more freely and easily.
It's so funny how in my mind, I thought 'sure I'll go all in' BUT only if its sunny weather and I have a change of clothes and I have appropriate swimming attire. But God kept 'nudging me' -as he does- to go ALL IN, in regular clothes, in cloudy weather -when it's UNCOMFORTABLE…when you are truly vulnerable. Giving over, letting go and allowing God to do his thing!
'If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. ' John 15:7
I want to abide in him this year, go into the deep end -let his spirit not my strength lead and equip me! I want to be saturated in his everlasting springs and know that it's never going to run out on me - What about you?
Jesus answered and said to her, "Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst again; but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life." John 4:13
So let's dive in to the deep, let's get comfortable in the uncomfortable and see God take us to the next level! Who is ALL IN???
