Hi.

Welcome to TheStyleofFaith! I share my thoughts on Faith, Fashion and Food -would love if you could join me on this beautiful journey.

His Perfect Timing.

His Perfect Timing.

I've always been a dreamer. For as long as I can remember I would dream about doing all of these great things for God, but would get so frustrated that the next morning they didn’t suddenly come to pass. I found it so difficult to understand why God would show me something in the future, if it wasn’t going to happen any time soon.

It was only when I began to understand that there is a season for everything and that his perfect timing is not often ours, that I realized that these visions and dreams were a way of God showing me his promises.

Isaiah 55:11
It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it.

Whilst I didn’t really (and still don’t!) understand how these promises were going to come true, I had to learn that they were never going to produce the fruit that they were capable of, if I wasn’t connected to and reliant on the source.

If I ever tried to force or accelerate a dream myself,  it would not succeed in the same way. I could think that I was ready for something, when I wasn’t or I could avoid stepping out in faith even though I was capable of doing more. That is why it’s so important to trust in God's timing.

Over the last couple of years and especially these last months, it has never been so apparent to me how well God has perfectly ordained all of my steps. Opportunities that I had completely forgotten I had dreamt about, seemed to just fall into my lap. I made connections with people I didn’t even realize would be valuable, until months later. As I looked back over my past, God's specially designed path seemed to all just make perfect sense now.

Whilst the ability to be patient, when all you want is to be is in control, never stops being challenging -learning to recognize the position God has you in and its power is so important.

Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart;
do not depend on your own understanding.
Seek his will in all you do,
and he will show you which path to take.

Sometimes I've found that choosing to make yourself available when everyone is telling you, you need to do a million things is such a powerful step. This first happened to me when I was 15 and had been serving as a kids church leader for about 3 years. At the time I was really enjoying what I was doing and they really needed more leaders, but I just felt in my spirit that I shouldn’t commit to another year and instead allow room for God to use me in other areas. It was definitely something that required me to step outside my comfort zone and trust in his timing.

But sure enough about May the following year, I got a call from my dance teacher to invite me to join my church's dance team and go to their weekly training nights. Not only was this something I had always loved doing but something God had been preparing me for all along. By stepping out of what had been comfortable,  I had given God room to move in my life.

In a world that tells us your life has to be packed to the brim or sometimes in church where you feel as though you need to be constantly serving - taking time off is ok. Sometimes we get so caught up in the routine that we miss the opportunity for the new, the next level.

You never know what God wants to do through and in you, with the time that was once accounted for.

Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart;
do not depend on your own understanding.
Seek his will in all you do,
and he will show you which path to take.

Galatians 6:9
And let us not lose heart and grow weary and faint in acting nobly and doing right, for in due time and at the appointed season we shall reap, if we do not loosen and relax our courage and faint.
