Beauty in the Brokenness

Beauty in the Brokenness

‘The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me,
because the Lord has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted…
to comfort all who mourn,
and provide for those who grieve in Zion—
to bestow on them a crown of beauty
instead of ashes,
the oil of joy instead of mourning
and a garment of praise
instead of a spirit of despair.
They will be called oaks of righteousness,
a planting of the Lord
for the display of his splendor.’
Isaiah 61:1-3

It's time to stop dwelling in your brokenness, resigning yourself to the fact that you just ‘heard wrong’. That God didn’t really choose you or anoint you.

Stop believing that your potential got lost, that your purpose isn’t going to play out, that your seed just wasn’t enough to birth a harvest.

Stop thinking that you need to be whole to be used by God. That you need to be complete, that you need to mend all your broken pieces together for you to be of value.

You have been chosen and with every scar God has been making you into his perfect masterpiece.

It's in our vulnerability that the beauty of God's grace shines through. It's our humility that illuminates God's endless patience and love.

The world wants to convince us to hide our true selves. To barricade our hearts and let no one in.

But the greatest beauty is found in our insecurities. It's knowing without a shadow of a doubt that despite everything we are loved by the most incredible God.

That our weakness, our faults, our past mistakes are just opportunities to testify of God's goodness.

'But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.'
1 Peter 2:9

As much as we think that we just want to see everyone's highlight reel, there is something so impacting about seeing yourself in someone else's struggle. Finding out that you are not alone.

You're not the only one who doubts. You're not the only one who is lost. You're not the only one who needs saving. And yet even if you were, Jesus would have died just for you to spend eternity with him.

You have been perfectly crafted to display his glory. Each piece of you, whether beaten, bruised or whole is in perfect condition to be used by God.

What the devil wants to diminish as our biggest weaknesses, God’s going to use for our greatest victories. You may have been labelled by the world but nothing can change who God says you are.

Moses may have been exiled from Egypt and afraid to speak but God used him to free the Israelites from slavery! David may have just been a shepherd boy but God used him to defeat a giant!

Countless times God used the unqualified to display his glory! If you can surrender your brokenness, your insecurities, your fears to him - he will fill you with his beautiful anointing and presence.

‘Blessed are the people who know the passwords of praise,
who shout on parade in the bright presence of God.
Delighted, they dance all day long; they know
who you are, what you do—they can’t keep it quiet!
Your vibrant beauty has gotten inside us—
you’ve been so good to us! We’re walking on air!
All we are and have we owe to God!’
Psalms 89:15-18

So would you lay your brokenness at his feet and let him clothe you in his beauty and grace?

Let’s give over our hearts to him and let our vulnerability be a vessel for God's glory.
