Using the Light

Using the Light

'For once you were full of darkness, but now you have light from the Lord. So live as people of light! For this light within you produces only what is good and right and true.'
Ephesians 5:8

It's amazing how quickly we can get used to darkness, that we forget to turn on the light. We forget to plug our life into the socket, to switch on the source of power.

Instead we sit in the pitch black, struggling to see, even though light is right at our fingerprints. Our gifts and anointing lay dormant because we've been trying to use them without God’s power.

It's just like driving with a dirty windscreen and yet it's only when you clean it do you realise how much it was impacting your vision. Or that sudden realisation that something isn't cooking because you forgot to turn the element on.

It seems silly afterwards that you resigned yourself to suffering through 'second best' when the solution was so easily available!

Yet this is exactly what we do with God. We spend way too much time feeling around in the darkness for a door or the path to take, when everything would just be so much clearer if we used 'the light' God has given us…the Holy Spirit.

'Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.”
John 8:12

How often do we complain to God that we have set everything up ready and nothing seems to be working? Well maybe it's because these areas of your life aren't plugged into the source?

It’s just like when your phone is low on battery you need to plug it in, put it down and let it charge. You can keep using it or try to fix it but ultimately you need to plug it in if it’s going to reach it's full capacity again.

We can do all we like and yet nothing will reach it's full capability without power. It will run slowly, take longer and the results will not be very successful. Yet, often we can be too stubborn to admit we may have missed one very important factor….God.

It's difficult realising that it wasn't your gift or anointing that was the issue, it's just that they can't reach their potential in your hands. It's only with God's power that they will be able to operate supernaturally.

‘Now to Him who is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams], according to His power that is at work within us."‘
Ephesians 3:20

It's time to let God's light in friends. I know you've gotten used to hiding all your pain, your shame and sin in the darkness. I know you're scared to switch the light on. But God has already seen everything and he loves you.

I know you're embarrassed, you thought you could do everything on your own but allow God to be the source again. Let him flood every part of your heart with strength, joy and peace. Let him light the way and show you which path to take.

‘Arise [from spiritual depression to a new life], shine [be radiant with the glory and brilliance of the Lord]; for your light has come, And the glory and brilliance of the Lord has risen upon you.’
Isaiah 60:1
