New Levels New Battles
When the New Year rolls around it's funny how we can think that things are just going to change overnight.
We can come into our studies, our workplace with the same approach and the same habits and yet believe that things are going to be different. But we cant take our old mentality into this new season friends.
‘Let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.’
Romans 12:2
I know many of us can feel like God is about to take us to new levels but we are struggling with the transition.
God been teaching me that whilst spiritually I've felt ready for this new level, in the natural I'm am still operating the same as I was before.
Often when change comes we can suddenly crave the old, the comfortable. Or is it just me? We like our routine, our patterns and we need to be reminded that we cant take these with us if we want to operate at a new level.
We also cant rely on what got us through last time friends - more faith, courage and prayer is going to be required.
It's crazy how when you're praying for the breakthrough and promise you feel so ready to walk in it and yet as soon as God opens the door you suddenly become scared to walk through it?!
When he takes you on this journey you often become the most aware of your inadequacy right before God opens the door for you to be used greatly.
‘God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind.
Does he speak and then not act?
Does he promise and not fulfil?’
Numbers 23:19
It makes sense because it is so important for us to know that it's only God that can equip us and enable us to operate at this new level but I know I can often want to disqualify myself at this stage.
We become so used to God putting that dream or promise on hold, that we don’t know what to do when he lifts the lid on it.
This is where the greatest battles often come, right before we cross over into new territory. When we start to get discouraged because we forget just how much God has been preparing us.
It's almost as if we lose sight of all the battles we've already overcome. It's like David being scared of Goliath because he forgot that he already defeated lions and bears!
Yes, the battle can look different. With new levels, comes new battles. But the same incredible God is on your side.
‘Behold, I am doing a new thing;
now it springs forth,
do you not perceive it?
I will make a way in the wilderness
and rivers in the desert’
Isaiah 43:19
Sometimes it's tricky to know how far we've come until we attempt things we never could have done before. We need to step outside our comfort zone and take on these new challenges head on.
Let's remind ourselves of all the lessons God has been teaching us. We've been praying for God's perfect timing, so let's not diminish the reason why God has brought us into this new season.
You are prepared for such a time as this. Take courage and have faith friends!
