Sent on Assignment
Do you know that you’re not positioned here by mistake but purposely placed here by God? Do you know who sent you?
When you understand that you’ve been sent, you don’t go back to your boss until the job you’ve been sent for is done. Until you have evidence that you did everything in your power to fulfil your purpose.
What’s your report going to be? Are you going to run back saying that God just forgot about me? That someone else got healed before me so maybe I missed my moment?
No. You would be persistent, you would be relentless in the pursuit of what you know you have been sent to receive.
I’m reminded of the story of Jairus, a synagogue leader who went to Jesus to ask him to heal his dying daughter (Mark 5:21-43). He went to get help but could’ve easily walked away after witnessing another miracle happen before his, accompanied with the news that his daughter had died.
He could have given up on the miracle, but he chose to trust in Jesus. He chose to not go back empty-handed. He understood the power that Jesus carried.
Jesus told him, “Don’t be afraid; just believe.”
Mark 5:36
What assignment has God given you that you are not fulfilling because you forgot who sent you?
Don’t get complacent in stewarding the responsibility God has given you.
Whether that is to bring joy and positivity to your workplace, pray for a sick friend, to go out of your way to pick up someone so they can get to church.
Do not minimise your role, do not allow insecurity or impatience to convince you that you can just walk away.
‘Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong.’
1 Corinthians 16:13
Too many people are watching, too many souls are reliant on your obedience. Don’t walk away from your miracle.
Because it's not just for you. It might just be the testimony someone else needs to hear. It might just be the reminder they need to keep believing.
It's time to humble ourselves and realise the importance of our position here on earth. If Jesus can come from being seated on the right hand of God in heaven to humbly serving people here - I think it’s time to honour the role God has entrusted to us.
I love what Jesus declares in his prayer at the end of his time on earth -
‘I glorified you on earth
By completing down to the last detail
What you assigned me to do.’
John 17:4
Wow - what an incredible statement.
Remember who is sending you. Remember how much trust and faith he has in you.
What God is asking you to do - don’t take it lightly. It's our responsibility to walk out the call that God has given us.
So let's be persistent, let's never give up. I know I want to see what God has planned on the other side of my obedience.
