Hi.

Welcome to TheStyleofFaith! I share my thoughts on Faith, Fashion and Food -would love if you could join me on this beautiful journey.

Tuning In

Tuning In

Just when you start to think you understand what God’s been trying to tell you. You’ve worked it all out and you think you’ve figured out the best way to fix your situation...

Everything seems to flip on you. That one person you could always rely on, fails you. That 10 step guide to success doesn’t seem to work for you.

You thought your effort would qualify you but all it did was dishearten you.

You thought that you needed to predict where God would use you, just in case he forgot about you.

You thought that you needed to fight to be seen but all God wanted was you to be still and get to know him.

You don’t need to win God’s approval. You don’t need to win his love. Human rules don’t apply to God.

'But God demonstrates his own love for us in this:
While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.'
Romans 5:8

When we fall, when we fail to measure up - we need to stop looking to people to comfort us and look to God to heal us. Heal us from our brokenness, our disappointment, our pain.

Only he can bring us true joy, when we have every reason to be depressed. Only he can wrap us in the kind of love that doesn’t have any conditions.

God doesn’t want the perfectly wrapped version of ourselves that we put on to please the world. God just wants you - lost, tired, broken and weary.

Would you take a moment and just draw near to him? Lower the music, turn off the tv, put down your phone and tune into him. Truly listen.

How often do we off-load all our problems and frustrations to God and then fail to let him speak?

How often do we sing along to every worship song - scared of what God might say to us if we'd just stop and listen?

How often do we hear a Bible verse we know only too well and then shut down any possibility of new revelation?

You know why we constantly need more ‘fuel’ from the world? More likes, more trends, more news and even more ‘friends’?

Because it’s not sustainable. Just like a sugar rush it only lasts a moment before you start to feel empty again.

'My child, pay attention to what I say.
Listen carefully to my words.
Don’t lose sight of them.
Let them penetrate deep into your heart,
for they bring life to those who find them,
and healing to their whole body.'
Proverbs 4:20-22

God's love is everlasting, his peace surpasses all understanding. When you seek him with all of your heart, you learn that nothing compares to him and nothing can satisfy like he can.

'I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him.
Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is.
May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.'
Ephesians 3:14-21

So let's block out all other distractions and seek him. God is always wanting to speak to us friends, all we need to do is tune our ears to hear his voice.
