Fix your focus

It's time to readjust our focus friends. The last couple of weeks I have found myself overthinking, overwhelmed and anxious about the most insignificant things.

I've been so frustrated at myself for allowing my mind to be clouded and consumed by things that are not from God.

I've been going through the motions, praying the right prayers but my focus has been fixed on my reality not on God's ability.

It was only recently as I turned my focus completely on God that he has given me some keys I really felt to share with you today.

First up - what you prioritise will be at the forefront of your focus friends.

‘Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.’
Philippians 4:8

If your biggest problem is on the top of your list, you're actually suggesting it carries more authority and influence on you than what God does.

When we place God first, above all of our worries and problems, he literally covers them from our view. He shields us whilst he works on our behalf.

But we need to value and prioritise his input each and every day.

It's so easy to get caught up with your own thoughts or what others are telling you to do that you cover up what God really told you to begin with.

‘Make your ear attentive to skilful and godly Wisdom and incline and direct your heart and mind to understanding.’
Proverbs 2:2

We need to stop focusing on what is just speaking the loudest. The people with the most value don’t need to announce themselves to get your attention. Their presence just speaks for itself.

This is just like God, he’ll often come in a still quiet voice but we need give weight to his presence. Attach value to his word. It’s his word that brings clarity. 

‘The unfolding of your words gives light;
it gives understanding to the simple.’
Psalms 119:130

So are you magnifying your problems or exalting God? When we exalt God over our circumstances he elevates our perspective.

‘Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.’
Colossians 3:2

I also love how the Message Translation puts it,

‘Pursue the things over which Christ presides. Don’t shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you. Look up, and be alert to what is going on around Christ—that’s where the action is. See things from his perspective.’
Colossians 3:1-2

Let’s stop asking God to come down and speak at our level - instead let's ask him for the wisdom to understand and operate at his. 

It’s only when we start seeing from God’s elevated view that he'll give us the keys to the breakthrough.

Let's push aside everything that wants to grab our attention and sell us short from experiencing God's goodness.

Let's not be so confined by our own thinking that we can't tap into the revelations God wants to give us.
